Between 10am and 2pm\, drop in at any time and help us create a beautiful community quilt that will be gifted to a local care home supporting people living with dementia. \nThis isn’t just crafting\, it’s connection. It’s slowing down\, sharing stories\, making something with your hands that will bring comfort to others. Whether you stay for ten minutes or the whole session\, your stitched work will become part of a bigger whole … a patchwork of kindness\, creativity and community spirit. \nNo sewing experience needed just bring yourself! We’ll show you everything you need to know. You’ll be surrounded by friendly faces\, gentle conversation and the warm\, welcoming atmosphere that everyone talks about. \nWe are sad to say that The Ripple Effect Dress will no longer be with us during the Ilkeston Festival … BUT we are excited to announce that will be exhibited at The Museum of Making in Derby from Monday 13th July until the beginning of October 2026. Such an honour for all involved. If all you want to do is sit on a sofa with a cuppa and quietly watch the world go by\, that’s perfect. If you’d like to chat\, we’re here. If you want to take part in something gentle and grounding\, we’ve got that covered too. \nWho you can meet\nA wonderful group of local organisations will be with us throughout the day\, ready to chat\, listen and share what support is available. We’ll explore: • Salt effects • Bubble wrap printing • Cling‑film textures • Cookie‑cutter stamping This first week is all about loosening up\, experimenting and discovering what paint can do. \n \nSecond Week – Leaf Painting & Watercolour Play \nThis week\, you’ll explore colour\, flow and movement through leaf shapes and water‑based techniques. The result is a beautiful patchwork‑style artwork that blends traditional textile charm with contemporary crafting techniques. \n\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nLearn how to prepare your foam board and transfer your chosen design\nCut and shape fabric pieces to fit your pattern\nPress and tuck fabric into carved lines to build your artwork\nLayer colours and textures to create depth and detail\nFinish and mount your piece ready to take home\n\n\nYou Will Explore\n\nHow colour\, pattern and texture influence your final design\nTechniques for clean edges and smooth layering\nHow to design your own image\, if you feel inspired\n\n\nThis Workshop is Perfect for\n• Complete beginners \n• Anyone who enjoys textiles\, pattern\, or mindful making \n• People who like slow\, absorbing crafts \n• No experience is needed.
