DESCRIPTION:The Workshop\nYour tutor\, Melinda\, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “Have you ever admired patchwork designs and wondered how they are created? \nThis workshop will show you how to use machine patchworking to create a chevron design. You will learn the importance of accurate measuring\, cutting\, and sewing to achieving a good result. \nThe session will be based on learning the Half Square Triangle technique which becomes the basis for many different designs in patchwork. Once you have learnt how to sew the fabrics together using this technique\, we will assemble the squares you have made into a chevron pattern. \nOnce this stage is complete\, we will then move on to quilt the panel using wadding before adding a backing fabric and binding the piece to finish it off. \nThis workshop is ideal for those with some sewing experience though full instruction will be given throughout.” \nWhat to bring?\nAnticipation to enjoy the whole experience and reading glasses if you need them! \nWhat skills are needed?\nMelinda feels this is best suited for crafters with some experience using a sewing machine. It would be ideal\, if you own a sewing machine\, to bring that with you as you will be familiar with how it works. Please choose the ticket that highlights you will be bringing your own machine. \nWhat are the timings12\nThis is a relaxed afternoon running from 1pm to 4pm. \nOur purple front door will be open from 12.30pm so we can welcome you in\, you can get to meet Melinda and your fellow crafters and grab a cuppa before you start. \nHow many places are available?\nTo ensure the quality of your personal experience\, the group size is limited to 12. \nWhat is the cost?\n£25 + 63p card fee. This includes all the materials needed to make your patchwork chevrons and refreshments during the afternoon (excluding lunch) \nWe want you to go home with a spring in your step and feel really good about what you have achieved. This is a gentle\, three-hour afternoon designed to help you slow down\, switch off from everyday stresses and fully immerse yourself in the joy of making. \nYou’ll enjoy a calm\, supportive atmosphere focused on social connection\, mindfulness and creativity\, where there’s no pressure to be perfect … just plenty of encouragement\, laughter and time to explore something new. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or simply fancy trying a different technique\, this session is all about learning\, experimenting and having fun together. \nBy the end of the afternoon\, you’ll have a sense of calm\, achievement and connection with others. Everyone is welcome\, just bring yourself and your enthusiasm to create. 💜✨ \nWhat will we be making?During this special session\, we’ll be painting pebbles to create a unique piece of outdoor artwork for our front garden. You can decorate a single pebble or work together with others to create a group of pebbles that form something larger. The natural shapes of the stones might inspire birds\, flowers\, patterns or playful characters — just let the pebble guide your imagination! All materials will be provided\, and every painted pebble will become part of a colourful\, community-made installation that everyone can enjoy. \nA huge thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund and all the players of the Lottery\, and to our amazing volunteers\, who make all of this possible. If you’ve booked but can no longer attend\, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else.  \n \nJoin us for a relaxed and inspiring creative workshop led by Carol\, who specialises in felting and fabric crafts. This friendly session is designed to give you the chance to learn directly from an expert in a calm\, supportive and enjoyable environment. Come and have a go at Rag Rugs. \nRag Rugging is a traditional British craft which became very popular during the Victorian era with a resurgence during WW2. Using hessian sacking\, leftover fabric and old clothing people made soft rugs very inexpensively\, making the homes more cosy. It is very eco friendly as it utilises leftover fabric and clothing which may otherwise have gone to waste. \n.During the three-hour afternoon workshop\, you’ll be gently guided through new techniques\, helping you to build confidence\, develop new skills and enhance your crafting abilities\, all at a comfortable\, unhurried pace and under the watchful eye of your expert tutor. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or looking to expand your creative knowledge\, you’ll feel welcomed\, encouraged and supported every step of the way. It is a very easy to learn craft\, suitable for all ages and abilities. We will be using traditional proddy/proggy tools which are very comfortable to hold\, even if you have dexterity problems. You will have the choice to create a decorative heart\, coaster or flowers. \nWe believe that everyone deserves the chance to create\, so complete beginners are not only welcome\, but positively encouraged. This is your time to relax\, connect with others and discover the joy of learning something new. 💜✨ \nTo make sure everyone gets plenty of time with Carol\, this workshop is limited to only 10.
