SUMMARY:Community - Cork Art
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT INFORMATION\nBooking your place is essential so we can prepare materials and make everyone feel welcome. If you’ve booked but can no longer attend\, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to someone else. \n \nCome and join Viv and Fay for a relaxed and friendly creative session where you’ll have the chance to try your hand at cork art using a variety of materials. This is a gentle\, three-hour afternoon designed to help you slow down\, switch off from everyday stresses and fully immerse yourself in the joy of making. \nYou’ll enjoy a calm\, supportive atmosphere focused on social connection\, mindfulness and creativity\, where there’s no pressure to be perfect … just plenty of encouragement\, laughter and time to explore something new. Whether you’re completely new to crafting or simply fancy trying a different technique\, this session is all about learning\, experimenting and having fun together. \nBy the end of the afternoon\, you’ll not only have new skills and something handmade to be proud of\, but also a sense of calm\, achievement and connection with others. Everyone is welcome\, just bring yourself and your enthusiasm to create. 💜✨ \nYou will be making a small picture using corks … you can keep the corks whole for a 3D effect\, or slice them in half for a lighter effect. There is not time to colour the corks and so your picture will be created using the natural colour of corks. NB: we will have some corks cut in half for you to use but you can also have the opportunity to cut your own using a bread knife. We will also be using hot glue guns … they both require care and safety. \nA huge thank you to the National Lottery Community Fund and all the players of the Lottery\, and to our amazing volunteers\, who make all of this possible. Together\, we’re creating a safe\, caring and creative space for everyone.

SUMMARY:Kinusaiga: Textile Pictures Without Sewing
DESCRIPTION:Join Our Kinusaiga Workshop\nYour tutor\, Kate\, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing this beautiful Japanese craft with you. \nKinusaiga is a modern Japanese craft where patterns are built from small pieces of fabric tucked into carved lines on a soft board. Instead of stitching\, the design is created by gently pressing each fabric fragment into place\, forming a richly textured\, layered picture. The result is a beautiful patchwork‑style artwork that blends traditional textile charm with contemporary crafting techniques. \n\nWhat You’ll Do\n\nLearn how to prepare your foam board and transfer your chosen design\nCut and shape fabric pieces to fit your pattern\nPress and tuck fabric into carved lines to build your artwork\nLayer colours and textures to create depth and detail\nFinish and mount your piece ready to take home\n\n\nYou Will Explore\n\nHow colour\, pattern and texture influence your final design\nTechniques for clean edges and smooth layering\nHow to design your own image\, if you feel inspired\n\n\nThis Workshop is Perfect for\n• Complete beginners \n• Anyone who enjoys textiles\, pattern\, or mindful making \n• People who like slow\, absorbing crafts \n• No experience is needed. You will be using a craft knife to cut your design into the foam board\, it’s a bit like drawing a line but with added pressure! And then you’ll be pressing fabric into the resulting groove … you can do this! \nKate will guide you through each step. You’ll have a variety of designs to choose from\, or you can create your own. Feel free to browse online beforehand for inspiration — there are so many beautiful Kinusaiga patterns out there. \n\nWhat’s Included\n\nAll materials: foam board\, fabrics\, tools and patterns\nUse of equipment throughout the day\nTea\, coffee and biscuits\nFriendly\, supportive guidance from Kate\n\nYou’ll leave with your finished Kinusaiga artwork\, ready to display at home. \n\nWhat to Bring\n• Reading glasses if needed \n• Your lunch\, or money to buy food locally \nMost importantly\, bring your curiosity and thoroughly enjoy the process! \n\nWorkshop Details\n• Time: 10am – 4:00pm \n• Arrival: From 9:30am for a warm welcome and a cuppa \n• Group size: Limited to 10 people for a friendly\, supportive atmosphere \n\nCost\n£30 + 71p card fee. SUMMARY:Make Your Own Festive Stained Glass Sun Catcher
DESCRIPTION:The Workshop\nChristmas is fast approaching\, so why not Make Your Own Festive Stained Glass Sun Catcher to brighten your home or give as a beautiful handmade gift? \nJoin tutor Jennifer for this inspiring one-day workshop where you will learn how to create one or two festive stained glass sun catchers using the copper foil technique. \nJennifer will introduce you to the tools used to score and cut glass and will demonstrate how to break glass safely. You will then practise cutting techniques using standard float glass so you can build confidence before starting your own design. \nOnce you feel ready\, choose from a range of festive templates and begin creating your sun catcher using colourful art glass. You will cut your pieces\, grind the edges smooth\, and then wrap them in copper foil ready for assembly. \nAfter lunch\, Jennifer will guide you through the soldering process as you join your glass pieces together to form your finished sun catcher. If time allows\, you may even create a second design. \nBy the end of the day\, you will have learned the essential skills of the Tiffany copper foil method and will take home your own beautiful festive stained glass sun catcher to display and enjoy. \nWhat to bring on the day?\nAnticipation to enjoy the whole experience! \nSpecific to this workshop: \n\nWhen glass is being cut small fragments are inevitable: For your safety you must wear shoes that totally cover your feet: no sandals\, flip flops or opened toed shoes to be worn.\nIf you have a know allergy to plasters please bring some that you know you can use. Even professional glass cutters can sometimes end up with small glass cuts.\nA closed lidded coffee mug or spouted water bottle. Open vessels cannot be used whilst working with glass.\nReading glasses if you need them.\nPlease bring your own lunch or some money to buy something from either the hot-food hut nearby or the small local Asda.\n\nWhat skills Do I Need?\n\nNo prior experience needed. Jennifer will teach you all you need to know.\nAlthough cutting glass sounds ‘tricky’ it is actually quite a simple\, gentle thing once you know the technique. Don’t be scared about the thought of it. If you can hold a pencil you can hold the cutting tool.\nYou will need to concentrate but every element is fun and engrossing.\nUsing a soldering iron can be a bit daunting to start with but Jennifer will be on hand to give you specific techniques that will keep you safe and comfortable.\n\nHow many places are available?\nTo ensure the quality of your personal experience\, we limit the group to 6.
