Your tutor, Angela, will guide you through a relaxed and enjoyable workshop where you’ll learn how to construct this versatile fabric bag, inspired by traditional Japanese rice-carrying bags. Simple and elegant, these bags are perfect for everyday use, gifts or simply as a beautiful handmade accessory.

Whether you’re new to sewing or have some experience, you’ll enjoy creating a unique bag that reflects your own choice of fabrics and style.

What You’ll Do

• Choose from a selection of beautiful fabrics
• Cut and prepare your fabric pieces
• Machine stitch your Japanese Rice Bag together
• Learn how to create the distinctive drawstring closure
• Add decorative hand embroidery to personalise your bag
• Finish and assemble your completed project

No advanced sewing or embroidery experience is required. You’ll be guided through each stage and supported throughout the day.

You’ll leave with your own handmade Japanese Rice Bag, decorated with embroidery and ready to use or gift.

• Reading glasses if needed

• If you prefer, you may bring your own sewing machine (optional)

• Time: 10am – 2:00pm
• Arrival: From 9:30am for a warm welcome and a cuppa
• Date: Friday 17th July

Cost

£35 + £0.79 card fee.
This includes all materials required to create your Japanese Rice Bag and refreshments during the workshop (excluding lunch).
