Make Your Own Clothes Pattern Workshop is back by popular demand. Join us for a relaxed and practical session where you’ll learn how to create your own sewing pattern from a favourite garment.

Your tutor, Melinda, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing her knowledge:

“We all have a favourite garment that fits perfectly, but after lots of wear it needs replacing and is no longer available. In this workshop, I’ll show you how to recreate it.”

What You’ll Learn

In this hands-on pattern cutting workshop, you will learn how to take an existing garment and turn it into a reusable sewing pattern.

You will:

• Break down a garment panel by panel to understand its construction

• Learn how to copy (or “clone”) a garment accurately

• Explore how to adapt designs, such as changing necklines or sleeve lengths

• Gain an understanding of different fabric types and their uses

• Learn about the tools used in pattern making

By the end of the session, you will understand the full process and begin creating your own pattern.

Who This Workshop Is For

This workshop is perfect for:

• Beginners interested in dressmaking

• Anyone who wants to recreate a favourite garment

• Sewers looking to build confidence in pattern making

No formal experience is required. However, you should be familiar with basic sewing machine skills so you can make your garment after creating your pattern.

What’s Included

• All materials needed to create your pattern

• Demonstrations using example garments

• Step-by-step guidance throughout the session

• Refreshments (excluding lunch)

Please note: you will be creating a pattern, not the finished garment.

What to Bring

Please bring:

• A simple garment to copy (e.g. a top, dress or skirt in woven fabric)

• Optional fabric samples to discuss suitability

• Reading glasses if needed

For best results, avoid stretchy or jersey fabrics and choose a straightforward design.

Cost

£32 + £74p card fee.

This includes all the materials needed to clone your garment and refreshments during the morning (excluding lunch)
