Mosiacs ‘Taster’ Session

Sub Title
Afternoon Session

£38.32

Sat 21st June at 13:3016:00

The Workshop

Your tutor, Helen, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “This is a taster session and will lead into another whole day workshop for those of you who get hooked straight away!

I have been working in mosaic for 25 years and will bring some of my smaller mosaics and portfolio to show you.
At the workshop you will be using traditional materials and cutters to make your own mosaic to take away.
I will demonstrate different techniques as you work on your pieces. There will be books and photos of other mosaics for inspiration as well as my mosaics to give you ideas.
All tools and materials will be provided including safety goggles so that you can enjoy the session.  You will have a choice of glass and ceramic tiles to work with and some pre-cut bits for those who find it more tricky to cut the tiles.
By the end of the session, you’ll have an idea of how mosaics are made and a mosaic ready to grout at home or at another workshop!”

How to get here

Our Crafty Place

1 Corporation Road
Ilkeston,DE7 4ASUnited Kingdom

Please be aware that there is no on-site parking and we are on quite a busy road. There are residential side roads near the building. We advise parking alongside the grassy area across the road off the main road (it is a small triangle of land which, if you are approaching us from the Nottingham Road, will be on your right hand side before you get to our building, which is on your left).

If you are coming by bus, all buses stop along Nottingham Road, which is just a short stroll away. The buses that stop at the end of the road are: ‘the two’ and ‘my 15’. Points of reference are KLG Rutland and Gallows Inn (both next to the canal). The street that runs alongside KLG is called Thurman Street and this quickly becomes Corporation Road, shortly after The Triangle (a green space that is the shape of a triangle). You will see our big building with its purple doors on the left hand side.
