I make handmade ceramic vessels, wall mounts, succulent pebbles, planters & jewellery. I incorporate seed heads and wildflowers, grown in my own garden (specifically for my ceramics).
The foliage & seedheads are impressed into the clay surface at a leather hard stage. I use a grogged stoneware clay, fired in an electric kiln. I use slab building, coiling & pinch pot building methods depending on the product in hand.
Decoration is a mixture of coloured slips, underglaze colours, oxides & textured glazes. Work is twice fired in an electric kiln.
I love experimenting with textures and building up layers of colour & will sometimes use paper resist & sgraffito techniques, working back through the layers.
I’m in the process of building a garden studio where I’ll be offering Retreat Days later this year. I’m also hoping to offer artist get together sessions here where artists can bring their own materials/mediums & work in the garden using sketching, painting, photography, pottery, textiles and threads, whatever they use or would like to experiment with.
I supply a number of galleries in the UK. Find my work Gallery at 12 Eccleshall @sotagallery Oxford @numberfourgallery St Abbs, @studiovault N.Yorkshire, Four Crows Gallery’ Dolphin Gallery.
