Hi, I’m a printmaker and mosaic artist working mainly in lino-cuts, and mosaics made from broken crockery.
I love the thrill of not knowing how my prints will look until I peel them off the press, and watching my students’ faces when they see their first prints.
I work in a method called reduction printing which creates multiple layers of rich glossy ink and I often add extra detail using scraps of paper or fabric.
I’m a practising mosaic artist of twenty five years and my large mosaic land and seascapes are cut from crockery and other recycled materials to provide the colours I need.
When I teach this ancient craft, I start off with modern glass tiles that give a more even finish than the crockery but students will have the opportunity to progress to this enjoyable material.
