I enjoy exploring structure in nature and the built environment.  My subjects are mainly derived from Derbyshire Landscapes and the varied shoreline of the East Coast.

I work with painting and print.  The surface of some paintings is built up using a range of reclaimed and found materials and then painted into..  The constructed work attempts to mimic the rich and diverse surface often found in collagraph blocks once they have been inked and printed.  I’m interested in the way painting can become more object like depending on the way the content is positioned and constructed.

I have taught Art in schools and colleges in Derbyshire for over thirty years.  I have exhibited widely and have taken part in the Wirksworth and Melbourne Festivals Art & Architecture trails over a number of years.  I have won the print trophy in the Derbyshire Open Exhibition twice and have had work commended on several occasions.

Since I retired from full time teaching I’ve enjoyed working with art groups and sharing the experience of exploration and discovery which often goes hand in hand with creative endeavour.
