Suzanne Plamping

Bobbin Lace Maker

Suzanne Plamping, known professionally as SP Creative Crafts, is a passionate bobbin lace maker, designer, and teacher based in Nottingham, England. Her work beautifully bridges the gap between traditional heritage techniques and modern-day creativity, making lace not just a craft but a contemporary art form.

Suzanne’s specializes in Indian Block Printing, macrame, as well as bobbin lace, a centuries old textile art involving crossing and twisting threads wound on bobbins were she has over 40 years of experience.  Suzannes Lace Designs range from home décor to wearable art such as jewellery and fascinators , often incorporating modern threads and mixed media.

Suzanne offers workshops, taster sessions, set course, regular classes and talks across Nottinghamshire, often collaborating with local libraries (inspire learning), craft groups and Wi’s.  She is actively involved in lace education, having started her journey with the Nottingham Lace Society and Calverton Young Lace Makers.  Her teaching style emphasizes mindfulness and accessibility, welcoming learners of all backgrounds.  Suzanne is qualified as Adult education teacher

Suzanne also runs a vibrant Etsy store offering lace kits, patterns, and handcrafted items for individuals and homes and also accepts personal commissions, tailoring designs to suit unique styles and occasions.

Suzanne believes lace is more than decoration—it’s a therapeutic, logical art form that invites patience, precision, and imagination. Her inspiration often comes from nature, movement, and texture, and she’s constantly exploring new combinations, like lace with Indian block printing or Lace with needle felting.
