Join Our Layered Glass Artwork Workshop: Create a Framed Fused Glass Picture

Your tutor, Dawn, is looking forward to welcoming you and sharing a creative and inspiring introduction to layered glass artwork. In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you’ll design and make your own beautiful framed fused glass picture, using colourful glass pieces to build depth, detail and personality into your work.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and create your own layered glass artwork

  • Apply a background layer directly onto glass

  • Add a second layer to build depth and interest

  • Choose from a wide selection of coloured glass, frit, stringers and cabochons

  • Develop your own design or work from provided inspiration

You Will Explore

  • The basics of glass fusion and layering techniques

  • Colour, composition and working with transparency

  • How to combine different glass materials for texture and detail

  • Creating depth and storytelling through layered design

This Workshop is Perfect for

• Complete beginners
• Anyone curious about glass fusion or glass art
• Those who have tried glass before and want to explore something new
• Creative individuals looking for a relaxing, hands-on experience

No experience is needed. If you enjoy working with your hands and exploring colour and design, this workshop is for you.

Dawn will guide you through each step, offering support, ideas and encouragement throughout.

What’s Included

  • A wide selection of glass materials (frit, stringers, cabochons and sheet glass)

  • Use of tools and equipment

  • Step-by-step tuition and guidance

  • Refreshments throughout the day (please bring your own lunch or buy iy locally)

  • Kiln firing of your finished piece

Your unique layered glass artwork will be taken away, professionally fired and mounted in your frame, and you will be informed when it is ready to collect from Our Crafty Place.

What to Bring

• Reading glasses if needed
• Your lunch, or money to buy food locally

Most importantly, bring your curiosity and enjoy the process.

Workshop details

• Date: Friday 12th June
• Time: 10:30am – 2:30pm
• Arrival: From 10:00am for a warm welcome and a cuppa
• Group size: Limited to 8 people for a friendly, supportive atmosphere

Please note: a minimum of 6 participants is required for this course to run.

Cost

£52 +  £1.05 card fee
This includes all the materials needed to create your beautiful framed fused glass picture, kiln firing and refreshments during the day (excluding lunch)
