offering crafts for all

I’ve enjoyed creating from a young age and have tried my hand at many crafts growing up, but from the first time I sat at a spinning wheel I knew I had found my real passion. I have been spinning yarn for around 10 years, which has led me into a number of related yarns crafts including crochet, weaving and embroidery.
The main inspiration has always been from nature; borne from a love of hill walking and, more recently, from the rivers and canals, since moving onto my narrowboat home. As well as offering inspiration I also have a passion for sourcing my materials from nature. Especially wool, which is now seen as a waste product in most instances and is often burnt or put into landfill, despite its fantastic properties, such as being insulating and waterproof. I also like to work with plant fibres such as bamboo and cotton, as well as more obscure fibres, like nettle and mint. I also incorporate a small portion of recycled fibres into my work, most notably the vibrant recycled sari silk and other silk waste, to add texture and colour contrast to my yarns.
I started to teach my crafts around 4 years ago, the passing on of these heritage skills is also something I get great joy from and recognise the importance for our wellbeing, as well as the connection with others by sharing these skills.
